Overview

Cyber Security is one of the largest threats facing Australian businesses today.  With the global annual cost of cybercrime estimated to increase from $700 billion in 2017 to $3 trillion by 2020, this exponential rise is reflected in the Australian Government’s estimates that 59% of Australian businesses will suffer some form of business interruption from a cyber breach in 2018.  While high-profile cyber breaches grab the news headlines, SME and Midsize Enterprise businesses are overrepresented in the statistics and are prime targets of cyber-criminals, often due to the relative ease in which they can be breached. This presentation will look to de-mystify this threat landscape and provide a relatable overview of the common methods that are used to maliciously gain access to an organisations IT systems and what can be done to deter attackers.
