ASCI is moving closer towards professional registration – John Marson joins team

Sydney, 25 October 2017: The Australasian Supply Chain Institute (ASCI) is pleased to announce a new member of staff, John Marson, Accreditation Officer, who will strengthen ASCI’s initiative towards professional registration of Supply Chain Managers.

Australasian Supply Chain Institute (ASCI), formerly apicsAU, is a premier non-profit, professional membership community that facilitates and enables the development and professionalisation of the Australasian Professional Supply Chain Community. Currently, ASCI is working towards its initiative, of re-positioning as an institute and from this to offer accreditation to its members.

John Marson’s qualifications range from chemical engineering, through to supply chain and coaching, mentoring and industrial psychology. He has a "string of qualifications" because of his never-ending passion for understanding and learning about business. He enjoys sharing and guiding others and seeing them achieve, on their journey to successfully implement change.

He is a Master Instructor for the APICS Certifications CSCP and CPIM, and the only APICS Master Instructor, in Asia Pacific, for training other instructors. In addition, he is a registered instructor for CLTD and SCOR, as well as a licensed facilitator for The Fresh Connection and The Cool Connection (experiential training using online business simulations).

John Marson has been implementing S&OP since 1993, which is approached quite differently in the Demand Driven Adaptive Enterprise model, developed by the Demand Driven Institute, with which John has a long association and is a registered instructor for their Demand Driven Leader and Demand Driven Planner workshops.

He has extensive management and consulting experience in a wide range of organisations and industries globally. He has held senior management positions with multi-national companies such as Mars in the UK and Unilever in South Africa and was an associate director in consulting firms, PwC (South Africa) and KPMG (New Zealand).

John Marson will be joining ASCI as the Accreditation Officer. As a well-qualified subject matter expert, his role will include helping ASCI gain professional registration for its members. Depending on the level of membership, Corporate Members will be able to gain access to John for advice on structuring their internal supply chain staff development.

Dr Pieter Nagel, CEO, ASCI, says that having John Marson on board will take ASCI to the next level of achieving professional registration for its members. This is vital to our long-term goal to professionalise supply chain management.

“Professional registration is an important step for ASCI to take, because it will substantiate the fact that we, as an Institute, meet or exceed minimum standards of quality for our education. With John’s experience in the industry and as an Instructor, ASCI is able to take this next step towards professional registration. I welcome John to the team on behalf of all staff and Board. I look forward to the next phase of our ASCI Initiative.”
