ASCI has launched its first online, on-demand module addressing Modern Slavery in the Supply Chain which is offered in partnership with Unchained Solutions.
Ama Aidoo-Sam, Chair of the ASCI Ethics Committee, said, “I am excited, after considerable effort, to finally see the release of this e-learning module in modern slavery. I hope it will be the first of many offerings addressing ethical matters in the supply chain. The introduction of e-learning modules in supply chain ethics aligns with the ASCI ethics committee’s focus on offering ethics-related content and access to relevant training in this vital aspect of the supply chain.”
This module, “Engaging with the issue of Modern Slavery”, addresses a critical part of the ethical considerations in the supply chain and will engage your team with a solid understanding of the issue of modern slavery, what the Modern Slavery Act 2018 (Cth) is all about, and how it impacts Australian-based organisations. It will also address the impact of Covid-19 on global supply chains and raise consumer awareness of this topic.
Dr Pieter Nagel, COO of ASCI, explained, “Our mission is to be the professional accreditation body for supply chain management in this region. A key component in pursuing our mission is to partner with leading service providers of research and professional development programs. We aim to offer the most relevant content to our members.”

Future modules will cover topics such as responsible sourcing and purchasing, equipping procurement professionals to identify and manage modern slavery risks, developing policies to manage and monitor modern slavery risks and measuring the effectiveness of actions taken to address modern slavery.
This series will consist of six modules. They are video based with one or two sections that give people time to read and reflect. Each module is about 30 minutes long and is accessible 90 days after signing up. Learners will be issued a certificate after the successful completion of each module.
